Fast-Casual in the Flatiron, Welcome to Carrot Express

Need a fast-casual yet health-conscious meal? Welcome to Carrot Express. Located at 18 West 23rd Street, this is Carrot Express' first New York City location. Founded in 1993, Owner Mario Laufer saw a lack of healthy restaurants in Miami Beach and began serving nutritious and tasty food inside a gas station before opening his first brick-and-mortar restaurant. Decades later, Carrot Express now has more than 15 locations. Guests can look forward to an expansive menu featuring salads, all-day breakfast items, large bowls, wraps, juices, and smoothies. Try their best-selling La Bomba wrap made with falafel, quinoa, kale, roasted eggplant, hummus, arugula, spinach, and tomato. Add some tostones on the side and wash it down with “Green Dream” made with kale, spinach, pineapple, and green apple. The Carrot Express makes for an excellent stop the next time you walk by Madison Square Park.

Craving some Sichuan Food in the Flatiron District? Welcome to Mala House

The Flatiron District could use more Sichuan spots, and we’re glad Mala House fits the bill. From wontons in chili oil to spicy beef noodle soup, you can’t go wrong with any of the numerous menu items. We recommend the dry pepper chicken for a hearty meal and a side of their refreshing cucumbers gently coated in garlic paste. This no-frills spot is a welcome addition to the bustling neighborhood. Going with a larger group? No problem! Choose from a wide variety of shareable plates. Find Mala House at 21 East 21st St. and Broadway.

Long-Awaited Latin American Restaurant Comodo is Now Open in Flatiron

Comodo translates to ‘comfortable’ in English, and we can see why this establishment relies heavily on its name. From lamb sliders to ceviche and a side of chicharrones, Comodo is as good as it gets when you’re strolling by East 23rd and Lexington Ave. Comodo is a reprise of the restaurant of the same name that opened in the West Village back in 2012 by husband and wife team Tamy Rofe and Felipe Donnelly for those that may find the name familiar. The couple is also responsible for the popular Latin American eatery in Brooklyn called Colonia Verde. With Comodo, the duo has introduced a new menu and location in the Freehand Hotel in Flatiron. Be sure to try their Black Cod with smoked chipotle honey and watermelon turnips.
